Preplaced is a long term career mentorship platform where we aim to provide ongoing career guidance and support from mentors across various industries who are operating at senior levels to the mentees who are looking for this guidance. The goal is to fostfostering er long-lasting relationships with the mentees, helping them make informed career decisions over time, rather than just facilitating a one-time job placement.

Each mentor that wants to be listed on our platform needs to go through a series of steps which include setting up their profile (which is exhaustive in itself) and then have a one-to-one call with our team to get listed and verified on the platform.
The two primary problems that we were facing here were:
1. Even after getting listed on our platform as a mentor, they were not able to attract mentees to provide their support to which ultimately led us to having multiple mentors listed on our platform without any mentee or just an inactive mentor profile
2. The verification call made sense years ago when the number of mentors that wants to get listed on our platform was significantly low and we would also have the control to only list mentors that seem promising during the early days of the platform;
But soon, we had over 1000+ mentors waiting in line for the verification call from our team and it was taking enormous amounts of bandwidth from our team to go through each and every mentor

The entire solution was based around the ideology that mentors coming to get listed on our platform needs to attract mentees some or the other way to remain active and move up on the mentorship ladder.
So we picked this up > removed the compulsory listing call with our team > opened up the registrations for mentors to anyone > included a number of steps before they actually get listed which concluded with them onboarding atleast one mentee before they’re listed on the platform
In this way, the mentors getting listed on the platform possessed the skills of onboarding mentees for themselves therefore the quality of mentors improved and it saved weeks of our team’s bandwidth.
