project overview

Preplaced is a long term career mentorship platform where we aim to provide ongoing career guidance and support from mentors across various industries who are operating at senior levels to the mentees who are looking for this guidance. The goal is to fostfostering er long-lasting relationships with the mentees, helping them make informed career decisions over time, rather than just facilitating a one-time job placement.

problem statement

An average mentor on our platform handles nearly 3-6 mentees and considering each mentor has a full time day job as well, it was a painstaking process to assign tasks, check up on their mentorship plan, reply to messages, handle cases where the mentee has been inefficient/inactive and so on.

The mentee listing page view for a mentor was uninformative about these actions for a mentor and the mentor had to go through each of their detailed view screen, and then towards multiple tabs to handle these cases and proceed with an action which took a lot of manual efforts for the mentor and we wanted our platform to be one easy place wherein they can focus on providing more support to their mentees rather than wasting time in grunt work.

solution

We started by redesigning the mentee listing page view for a mentee which could accommodate:

  1. Multiple mentees within the first fold

  2. Information about their tasks, messages, mentorship plan, inactivity, upcoming sessions at a single place so they can proceed to an action directly from the mentee view

  3. Highlighted indicators using warning, error & success colors to let the mentor know which type of action your mentee requires

  4. Widgets to analyse and keep track of certain metrics like Active/Past Mentees, Paused Mentees, average mentees per month, mentees that need attention and so on.

individual mentee view

Each individual mentee card designed for a mentor focused on a few major things:

  1. Mentor is quickly able to see his/her mentees at once and find which particular mentee requires the attention of a mentor

  2. Giving them a direct touchpoint to proceed with an action where the mentee requires the mentor's attention; could be inactiveness from mentee, their mentorship renewal, upcoming session and so on.

widgets to analyse

Certain dynamic widgets were also added for the mentors to track their progress towards their journey of getting listed on the platform

analytics

It becomes very important for a mentor to get a quick view of their own progress with their active or past mentees, so we decided it'd a great addition if somehow we could show up a brief yet concise view of their current analytics within the mentees page view

detailed overview

Within a particular mentee's detailed view, we came up with an addition of the "Overview" tab which could give general information about the relationship with their mentee
